Dog Licenses

If you live in Humboldt County, outside of city limits, you must license your dog at the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

Licenses are good from January 1st through December 31st. A late penalty will be added for all renewals after January 31st. Altered dogs are $4.00 per year and unaltered dogs are $10.00 per year. When renewing, bring current proof of rabies vaccination (if expired). You will receive a reminder notice in the mail in December of each year.

Liquor Licenses

If you own a business in the County that requires a Liquor License to sell alcohol, you will need to apply for a Liquor License.

Liquor License Applications can be downloaded HERE

Please print and fill out the form, in its entirety, and bring to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. You will also need to go to the County Clerk’s Office and apply for a Business License, if you don’t already have one.

All ongoing liquor-selling establishments will be subject to a background investigation, fingerprinting and a fee. If approved, you will be billed on a quarterly basis for your Liquor License.

If you are looking to acquire a Liquor License for a Special Event, download the form above and fill it out in its entirety and bring it into the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. You will be subject to a background check, as well. All Liquor Licensees must go before the County Commissioners, so please plan well in advance.
